A payment issue at a major bank has led to complaints from clients across the country

People were worried about paying their bills and feeding their kids until the matter was handled.

Problems began late last night, and by 7:30am, Downdetector had received over 800 reports.

Concerned customers raged on social media about not getting paid.
‘Waiting on wages,' remarked one. My two-year-old is hungry and my husband can't drive to work because of lack of gas money.'

‘You are eager to collect our money yet we can't get our wages.'
Nationwide apologised.

‘Sorry, there is a current delay affecting some incoming payments. Your payment will be handled automatically.'

Customers worried about the lack of time to remedy the issue, as many were needed to pay bills soon.

‘My paychecks are not showing up in my bank account. Everything is due tomorrow!'

Nationwide began tweeting consumers at 9am Friday that the issue had been resolved and was a ‘one-off'.

It's the second time in less than a week that Nationwide customers have had issues.
Due to December 21st mistakes, people were unable to pay or receive money.

When asked about today's issue, a spokesman replied that several payment types had been delayed overnight, but that this had been fixed this morning.

‘Some sorts of payments to members' accounts were delayed overnight,' the statement added.

‘The issue has been rectified and payments are being handled.

‘The delay impacted scheduled account credits, Standing Orders and Direct Debits. We regret any inconvenience.
