Royal Mail has reportedly fired a postman who told an elderly woman he was too “knackered” to help her up after she fell on ice.
Patricia Stewart was left on her doorstep after slipping on ice in Scotland in February by Thomas McCafferty.
The postman can be seen talking to the 72-year-old in the video taken by Ms Stewart's neighbor's doorbell camera.
“I can't help pal, I'm knackered,” the Royal Mail worker is heard saying. “I'm knackered.”
Karolina Domska, 22, a Hermes driver, saw Mrs Stewart crying in the snow and assisted her back into her house 20 minutes later.
The postman was fired on Monday.
“We contacted the consumer to apologise again and update them on the investigation's outcome,” they added.
“Royal Mail demands the greatest standards of behaviour from our staff at all times.
We constantly remind our postal workers of their vital role in local communities. We regret the discomfort caused by this incident.”
